For All the Right Reasons...
Frank Friedland is Reaching New Heights
It all started on a sunny Los Angeles morning in 1969. He parked his car on the side of the street and committed to himself not to go home until he'd spoken with 100 people about their insurance needs. He began knocking on doors at house after house... and
continued for ten years.
From that determined beginning 28 years ago, Frank Friedland, CLU, ChFC, has achieved a career milestone only the best in the industry achieve
- more than $100 million of life insurance in force. Frank is the first TMG Life agent to achieve $100,000,000 of life insurance in force in TMG Life's 67-year history.
Frank has been a perennial leader with TMG for the past 12 years, representing the company through Astro Financial Services of Virginia Beach. He has built his business on some very simple but sound philosophies:
Help people; do quality work;
build a solid reputation.
"Putting the client's needs first has been the key to my success;" says Frank. He uses the example of a young divorcee Frank met earlier in his career. She was suddenly on her own with two small children. She had little money for life insurance, but she recognized the need to protect her children.
Frank drove more than 50 miles each way to meet with his client, though he knew she would be hard-pressed to pay any more than $8.00 monthly on a term life policy. He got the sale, earning minimal compensation at best but knowing he had helped his client.
A few years later that same divorcee became the assistant for an executive at NASA. When the boss mentioned his need for a good life insurance agent, Frank's name was top of mind. That NASA executive brought more than $72,000 of premium to Frank
- all because Frank put helping his client first.
"I had two powerful motivators for getting into this business," explains Frank.
"As a disabled veteran, I saw firsthand the value of
disability insurance. And as a child, I saw my father
die with no life insurance. The strain on my family was
tremendous. I wanted to keep that from happening to
other families."
He's done just that. During his 28-year career, Frank has helped thousands of clients protect themselves from the financial impact of death and disability. Today, Frank's business is built around 14 key centers of influence
- attorneys, stockbrokers and CPAs. They send Frank 150 prospects each year; each one sold on the need for life insurance before Frank ever shakes their hand.
"I reciprocate,
believe me," says Frank. "When my clients need an attorney
or other counselor, I take them to my centers of
influence. I sit in on their meetings, sharing
information and recommendations. Clients view us as a
team working on their behalf. We build on each other's
expertise in the eyes of the client."
Frank and his wife, Marsha, a schoolteacher, travel extensively worldwide. It was after 13 years in the business that Frank decided to take his first vacation.
"I
discovered how refreshing it was to take a couple of
weeks off. I've found that after about ten weeks, I'm
ready to again recharge my batteries. Marsha and I plan
to visit all the corners of the world before we're
finished. We're already well on our way."
"I love The Mutual Group," says Frank.
"It is one of the few companies that tries to treat you
like family. I can reach people, and they get back to me
promptly with information I need. They work with me on a
personal level. This is where I want to be."
Congratulations Frank, on a remarkable career. You're one
in 100,000,000.
